UE Urged to Maintain Support for Ukraine Following US Aid Approval
In a recent call to action, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has urged the European Union to continue its support for Ukraine, emphasizing that Europe should not become complacent following the United States' commitment to a substantial aid package. The appeal comes after the US House of Representatives approved over $60 billion in support for Ukraine, marking a significant contribution to the country's defense against Russian aggression.
Addressing the EU's Foreign Affairs and Defense Council via videoconference, Kuleba highlighted the importance of European defense being a primarily European responsibility. He expressed gratitude towards the EU for demonstrating leadership and the ability to act decisively during the six months of US deliberations regarding the aid package.
Kuleba called for "concrete and bold decisions" to supply Ukraine with additional defense systems, such as Patriot and SAMP-T anti-aircraft systems, as well as extra artillery systems with the necessary ammunition. His firm stance is that now is the time for action, not debate, to ensure that Ukraine can overcome Russian forces and prevent the spread of military aggression to other European countries.
